WILD COLOR by Wendy

It was a terribly designed birth announcement for my firstborn that evolved into a business licensing art.

I was in the throes of my agency days.

By the time my second was born, in 2007, I’d not only improved my skills, but people were paying me to design pieces for them.

In 2009, I started a tiny ministry called Adopted by Design. I made cookbooks, t-shirts, stationery, and more for people to sell to raise money for international adoption fees.

In 2011, I started licensing some of my work to retailers. I learned quickly about royalty agreements, rights, negotiation, terms of use, and more.

My highest ROI was over 5-figures on a design that took me less than 20 minutes to make.

(There were no AI design tools then!)

Along the way, I learned how to paint - or rather sling paint.😊

Here’s a secret:

Anyone can do it. Try it, it’s fun!

Art brought many opportunities into my life:

Licensing deals, speaking gigs, workshops, opportunities to coach artists about business, a public showing, magazine publication, commissions…

It was an interesting and unexpected journey.

As much as I loved the work, the toll of juggling multiple businesses left me needing to make a decision.

I found deeper fulfillment in helping business owners solve problems impacting their businesses and livelihoods.

Coaching and consulting allowed me to do that, so I put my art business on the back burner.

For now anyway… you ever know what the future holds!

Occasionally I’ll run private workshops online or in-person for people who want to learn how to make abstract art.

No, I don’t have a website, but you can contact me for more info!
